We are proud to offer youth employment opportunities for our local community.


Youth Employment Opportunities
We hire a small team of motivated teens each season to help support the farm during public hours, events, and programs.

Typical roles may include:
- Helping guests during public hours
- Assisting with events & weekend activities
- Supporting the Farmstand
- Light outdoor farm tasks
- Helping younger children feel welcome & safe
- Keeping the farm clean & organized
No farm experience is required.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
13 years old+
Illinois Youth Employment Requirements
We love giving young people the opportunity to learn, grow, and gain real work experience at Honey Bee Gardens Farm. Because many of our team members are students, we follow all Illinois youth employment laws.

Ages 13–15
Teens in this age group are welcome to apply, but Illinois requires a worker’s permit (employment certificate) before they can begin working.
This permit is issued through your child’s school or local Regional Office of Education is a simple process that includes:

- Parent/guardian approval
- School approval
- Employer information (we provide this once hired)

Ages 16+
A worker’s permit is not required, but applicants must still meet our hiring and scheduling requirements.

Minimum hiring age: 13 years old.
